Chapter 17: The Eve of the Wedding

The night before the wedding, a gentle rain fell over Hudson Valley, leaving the air fresh and sweet with the smell of wet pine and blooming roses.
Mia’s best friend and former colleague from her nursing days, Sarah, had arrived at the estate to help with final preparations. Laughter and sweet music echoed from the master suite upstairs where Mia was trying on her veil.

"You should be resting, Mr. Vale," she called down playfully, her voice warm and melodic.
Dominic looked up, his expression softening into one of absolute devotion. "I can't sleep. I keep thinking this is all a beautiful dream that I might wake up from."
