Chapter 12 - The Night Evelyn DisappearedEvelyn finally told Julian everything.
The night she disappeared, she had discovered the financial records.
She confronted Cassandra.
Cassandra panicked.
But before she could respond, Victor arrived.
He wanted Evelyn dead.
Cassandra refused.
Instead, she drugged Evelyn and hid her in the bunker.
"I thought I was saving you," Cassandra whispered during a recorded confession.
"But I became a prisoner of my own lie."
Evelyn stared at the recording.
"You should have freed me."
"I couldn't."
"Why?"
Cassandra's answer was devastating.
"Because Victor had Toby."
Julian's eyes filled with rage.
Cassandra had been blackmailed.
But that didn't erase what she had done.
Then another recording played.
Victor's voice.
"Bring me the ledger."
Julian frowned.
"What ledger?"
