They stood before the grave marked with her name.
But beneath the flowers, Julian found something hidden.
A metal box.
Inside:
A passport.
Cash.
A photograph.
And a letter.
The letter was from Julian's father.

If Evelyn is reading this, then I failed to protect you both.
The woman buried under this stone is not your wife.
Julian's hands trembled.
He looked at Evelyn.
She stared at him in horror.
The letter continued.
Evelyn's death was staged because someone inside the family wanted her erased.
Trust no one.
At the bottom was one final sentence.
Especially the person who tells you they saved her.
Julian slowly lowered the letter.
"Cassandra."
Evelyn shook her head.
"No."
"Who else knew?"
Evelyn suddenly looked toward the road.
A black SUV waited in the distance.
The driver's window lowered.
Victor was inside.
Beside him sat Toby.
Julian's blood froze.
