Chapter 6 - Cassandra's Last SecretCassandra was found forty-eight hours later.

She hadn't gone far.
She was hiding in an abandoned motel outside town.
When police arrested her, she laughed.
Detective Reed entered the interrogation room.
"Where is Victor Hale?"
Cassandra said nothing.
"Who attacked the transport?"
Silence.
"Who was in the SUV?"
Cassandra smiled.
"You really think Victor is the enemy?"
Reed leaned forward.
"Then tell me who is."
Cassandra's smile vanished.
"Julian."
Reed frowned.
"What?"
"You've been looking in the wrong direction."
She leaned toward the glass.
"Ask Julian what happened the night Evelyn supposedly died."
Reed stared at her.
"You killed Evelyn."
"No."
Cassandra's voice dropped.
"I saved her."
Reed said nothing.
Cassandra continued.
"Victor wanted her dead."
"Then why did you imprison her?"
"Because keeping her alive was the only way to control him."
Reed stood.
"You're insane."
Cassandra laughed.
"Maybe."
