Chapter 11 - THE LAST WITNESS Damien was destroying evidence.

But Lily remembered Warren's habits.

Warren trusted paper more than computers.

In his office stood a decorative model of the city skyline.

Lily had seen him touch it whenever he was nervous.

She realized it wasn't decoration.

A hidden compartment contained a key.

The key opened a cabinet behind a bookshelf.

Inside were ledgers.

Names.

Payments.

Bribes.

Shell companies.

Every secret the Blackwood empire had tried to bury.

The conspiracy was larger than anyone expected.

Judges.

Police officials.

Bankers.

Politicians.

But Damien wasn't finished.

Eight armed men arrived at the lake house that night.

Victor prepared to confront them.

Lily stopped him.

“Give them the Victor they don't expect.”

Instead of opening fire, Victor activated the house's security system.

Steel shutters dropped.

Doors locked.

The intruders were trapped inside separate rooms until police arrived.

One carried a list of names.

One belonged to a police superintendent.

Another belonged to a judge.

The third appeared to be Marco.

Victor stared at his head of security.

Marco looked horrified.

“I didn't do this.”

Quinn examined the document.

“It's fabricated.”

Then she found a burner phone inside Marco's coat.

A message appeared.

THE NANNY IS THE LAST WITNESS. FINISH IT.

Everyone looked at Lily.

She understood.

The enemy was no longer trying to control Victor.

They were trying to silence her.

And that meant Lily had become more dangerous than she realized.
