“The lake house.”

They drove through the night.
Snow hammered the windshield.
The road disappeared beneath white darkness.
Victor drove faster.
He couldn't stop imagining his son alone.

It was the security system.
One camera had activated.
The image showed Serena standing beside the frozen lake.
