Victor stared at it for several seconds.
His hands tightened into fists.
Detective Quinn traced a burner phone to an abandoned warehouse.
Police entered before sunset.
They found Rosa alive.
Bruised.
Terrified.

She had been hiding in a storage room.
Once she was safe, the truth came pouring out.
Serena had hired her.

Damien had arranged the kidnapping.

August Montigue.
Serena's father.
A powerful banker with connections throughout the city.
Victor stared at Rosa.
“Why would August care about Ethan?”
Rosa swallowed.
“Because Ethan's trust isn't just money.”
She explained that the Blackwood family had hidden assets inside a charitable foundation.
Millions had been moved through shell companies.
If Ethan inherited the trust, Victor would gain access to records that could expose the entire operation.
Serena didn't simply want to marry Victor.
She wanted control of Ethan.
August wanted control of the money.
Warren wanted a percentage.
Damien wanted revenge.
But Rosa saved the worst revelation for last.
“Amelia found them.”
Victor stopped breathing.
Amelia.
His dead wife.
“She discovered the foundation transfers before she died.”
“Did she confront Serena?”
Rosa nodded.
“She did.”
Victor closed his eyes.
For two years, he had believed Amelia's death was a tragic accident.
A brake failure.
A rainy road.
A moment of terrible bad luck.
Now he remembered something.
Amelia had called him that night.
He had been in a meeting.
He hadn't answered.
He had listened to the voicemail once.
