Chapter 15 - THE COUNTERATTACK
Claire refused to hide.
The arts center became the location for a press conference.
News vans lined the street.
Parents filled the room.
Lily's painting, Our Unbreakable Sky, hung behind the podium.
Claire stepped forward.
"For the past month, you've heard accusations against me."
She didn't raise her voice.
She didn't need to.
"Those accusations were manufactured."
She revealed the financial evidence.
She explained the custody attack.
She told the truth.
"Eleanor Bennett has withdrawn her custody petition."
Gasps.
"And she is under federal investigation."
The room went silent.
Then a mother stood.
She began clapping.
Another joined.
Then another.
Within seconds, the entire room erupted.
Claire looked toward Lily.
Her daughter was smiling.
Marcus stood at the side of the room.
His eyes were full of pride.
Claire understood something.
The Bennett family had once used fear to control people.
Now Claire was using truth to bring them together.
The center was no longer hers alone.
