Chapter 26 - SUNRISE OVER THE HARBOR

By late spring, Crestview Holdings was gone.

The properties Thorne had purchased were sold to a community land trust.

The bakery stayed.

The print shop stayed.

The music store stayed.

The neighborhood survived.

The three-million-dollar Crestview endowment was restructured.

The Vance Center received it without corporate control.

Marcus was formally honored by the State Bar Association.

His past had finally been cleared.

After the ceremony, Claire, Marcus and Lily walked along the harbor.

The sun glittered across the water.

Lily ran ahead.

"Look!"

She held up a piece of green sea glass.

Claire smiled.

Marcus took her hand.

"You did it."

Marcus shook his head.

"We did."

Claire looked at the water.

For the first time, there were no enemies.

No lawsuits.

No cameras.

No threats.

Just sunlight.

Lily's laughter.

And the sound of waves.

Claire believed they had finally reached the end of the road.

But perhaps there was never an end.

May you like

Only another horizon.
